Aqueous coating is a water-based sealant applied by Kompac Kwik Koat, with Coating Finishes available in Matte, Dull, Satin, and Gloss which provides better rub protection than varnish. Printers prefer using aqueous coating over varnish because it has better hold-out (does not seep into press sheet) and drys immediately allowing for quicker back-ups.
